Why and When Should you Change your Corset
Way back in the Victorian Times, women had the skill of manufacturing their corsets. In this way, they did not have to purchase corsets from the market as women do now. In this case, whenever a corset used to get damaged or any other issues happened, they could mend the corsets at home itself. But soon, things changed, and women started relying more on the corset manufacturers in place of preparing the corsets at home.
There are some eminent reasons why you should change your corsets. Here are some of the reasons that you can relate to.
When Bought the Wrong Corset:
There can be situations when you might have bought the wrong corset. This can happen mainly if you are new to corsetry. You may have judged your body type wrongly and then may have bought the wrong corset. If you forcefully try to wear this corset, you will feel extreme pain in different parts of the body. Hence, you must get the right one depending upon your body type.
When Corset Gets Damaged:
Even when you are keeping your corsets in extreme care, there can be several times when the corset may get damaged. There can be some cases when the corsets can get mended, such as when the stitch has opened. But in other times, it can get difficult to mend the corset. In such a case, it becomes important to replace it with a new one.
When You Need to Downsize:
If you have been wearing the corset for a long time, there will be a time when you have attained the size that you have thought of. In such a case, the corset remains no longer useful to you. You will require to downsize your corset. Again in such a situation, you have to replace this one with a new one.
When Should You Change Your Corsets?
Now you have known the possible reasons why you should change the corset. But how will you know that it is the right time to change your corset? Here are some signs that you should understand.
Uncomfortable even after Seasoning:
If you have seasoned your corset well and it has been almost more than two weeks that you are still not comfortable in it, you need to think about it. If you feel discomfort on the waist, upper hip, and other similar areas, this is not the right corset for you, and you need to replace it with a new one. If the corset is appropriate in its size and is exactly as per your body type, you can stay in it comfortably throughout the day after seasoning it properly.
You can see Tears:
Understand the difference between the tears and the stitches coming out. If the stitches have come out from the corset border, you can still try to mend it by stitching it again with a stronger thread. But if the fabric has torn from between somewhere, you may have to do patchwork. In such a situation, the size of the corset may also get altered. Hence, you should get a new one instead.
No Gaps After Lacing:
You need to keep on tightening the laces depending upon how comfortable you are in the corset. But if you notice that there are no gaps between the corset edges after lacing your corset hard, it is time to consider getting a new corset instead. This is very important because if you are not wasting training continuously, your waist size will again return to what it was earlier.
Loose Corset:
If the edges of the corset touch and there is no gap after lacing, it is already a sign that you require a new corset now to train your waist. But if you are still wearing this corset, there can come a time when the corset can get loose. There is no point in wearing a loose corset. Hence, if you wish to stay in the right shape always, it is necessary to get a new corset at the earliest.
Of course, with passing days, you can see new trends and styles coming up in corsets. Hence, you can check out different options to buy new ones for your wardrobe. Today, there are corsets available that are not just for stealthing but also perfect for wearing over your dress.
